Filling our days with sunshine and outdoor activities
With the weather warming up, residents have been enjoying spending time outdoors in the sunshine in the many welcoming spaces at Haddington and Millrace.
“Aside from seeing some beautiful plants and flowers, we’ve been benefitting from the companionship, fresh air, exercise and sunlight – all so important to our wellbeing,” says Kasey, Lifestyle Lead.
Passionate gardener, Shirley, spends part of every day in the garden and the results are stunning! An explosion of pink flowers greets residents and staff in the BBQ area, where Shirley was quick to adopt some vacant beds.
Shirley had a lovely big garden at her home, and used to host an open garden day each Spring to raise funds for the local Church. She’s loving the opportunity to continue her passion at Millrace. And residents are grateful that she is – enjoying the opportunity to stop and admire her efforts. Some, like Dougie, have even got involved, helping plant the flowers and weed the beds.
“It’s such a joy to see a small seedling I’ve planted grow into a colourful flower,” says Shirley.
Some residents have also been enjoying sitting in the Millrace courtyard under the purple wisteria blooms, while others recently visited volunteer Gayle’s picturesque garden in Tenterfield. After a stroll through the grounds, Gayle spoiled the residents with a delicious morning tea.
