Sizzling steaks and shared laughter – a family tradition
Once a month at Tenterfield Care, residents and staff gather for what has become a much-loved ritual – the barbeque lunch.
As the delicious aroma of sizzling steaks wafts through the community, residents and staff come together to catch up in a relaxed setting that encourages genuine connection.
This lovely tradition began some eight years ago and has been a treasured ritual ever since.
Manager, Joey, says the BBQ is symbolic of the way residents are encouraged to feel at home at Tenterfield Care. “Haddington and Millrace are both welcoming country-style communities designed to feel like home. Our team focuses on getting to know individual residents, listening to them and supporting them with personalised care. The BBQ provides another opportunity to do this in a way that feels fun and inclusive,” he says.
For staff, the experience offers something special. As one team member shared, “It gives you a chance to slow down and connect with the residents in a different way.”
Residents feel it too and look forward to the opportunity to nurture friendships with staff and each other. And who doesn’t love barbequed grass-fed beef from a local butcher, accompanied by creamy potato bake and fresh salad!
