Time honoured traditions and a bit of healthy competition
For generations, the Tenterfield Show has been a highlight for locals, and residents are always proud to participate – many having done so for years.
Manager, Joey, says there was so much enthusiasm in the run up to this year’s event. “Twenty residents participated in the competitions and another large group volunteered for the Show Society – something to be truly proud of.”
Creative residents spent weeks working on masterpieces to enter the handicraft, needlework and fine arts competitions, and keen cooks from Millrace and Haddington enjoyed some friendly rivalry as they cooked up a storm for the baking sections. Stories were shared as residents got busy preparing strawberries for the traditional ice-cream served in the Show Society dining room.
Resident Mary says, “I always have strawberries and ice cream at the show – it’s my favourite!” A colourful cupcake collection, decorated in a beach theme by the Millrace residents, was deemed the winner against stiff competition from Haddington and the CWA!
